What's New in Room 22Language Arts
Last week the second grade finished the final story of our Reading Street series, Grace for President. The week of 5/21 our students will take their reading benchmark test and we will begin a fairy tales unit to complete the school year. Also, in writing, students will begin working on their memory books and take their 100 word spelling test. Families, remember you can learn more about Reading Street here: Reading Street Website Math We are halfway through unit 12. The unit 12 parent letter is here. Below is a list the items that your child is expected to be secure (90% or higher)in by the end of 4th quarter (June): *Identify place value in 2-, 3-, and 4-digit numbers *Read and write money amounts in decimal notation *Use coins to show money amounts in different ways *Use calculator to compute money amounts *Knows equivalent values of money *Multiply numbers with a factor of 0 or 1 *Compares quantities from a bar graph *Adds 2-digit numbers *Subtracts 2-digit numbers You can practice your facts by using flashcards. Science We continued our new FOSS science unit this week: Air and Weather. Be sure to ask your child what he or she knows about air.
